Pay Rate (not to exceed): $24.89/hour +4% vacation pay

Description: Our Halifax Disability Office is looking for action-oriented individuals with strong team building, relationship management, and prioritization skills to join its diverse team as a Long-Term Disability Case Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for the assessment of Long Term Disability claims, the development of specific case management plans, and making key decisions. These duties rely on your sound analysis of disability contracts and your ability to think strategically to apply sound judgment. Communication skills are also a vital part of this position as you will be required to deliver difficult messages and maintain collaborative relationships with Plan Administrators, medical professionals, and other key partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

Evaluation of long term disability claims including the identification, and analysis of medical, contractual, and eligibility information

Development and execution of case management plans

Maintain consistent interaction with claimants and clients

Technical direction toward the case management plans, ensuring accuracy of benefit calculations and payments

Making decisions on Waiver of Premium claims

Conduct and document detailed functional interviews

Collaborate closely with functional and vocational rehabilitation specialists

Assessment and identification of functional limitations that impact return-to-work

Special Conditions:

Overtime may be required during peak periods

Disability management and/or Group Benefit knowledge

Familiarity with medical terminology

Ability to be able to identify medical and non-medical barriers

Intermediate PC skills - including data entry, MS Word and MS Excel

Strong customer service experience

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

Analytical skills with a strong attention to detail - particularly with numbers, spelling and grammar

Influencing and negotiation skills

Work effectively in a dynamic, team environment

Effective relationship management with external and internal clients

Ability to read and interpret policy wording

Flexibility to balance conflicting priorities

Proficient in letter writing

Bilingualism would be considered an asset
