BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the foreman, the incumbent will be responsible for the installation and repair of mechanical and piping systems and equipment. This person will have to perform all other tasks related to his function.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install and repair mechanical systems on vessels under construction or in dry dock;
  • Participate in major repairs as directed by the mechanical foreman; use lifting equipment, disassemble and reassemble machines and equipment, handle parts and participate in job completion testing as directed;
  • Install and repair plumbing systems;
  • Maintain and repair machinery and work equipment;
  • Perform preventive inspections;
  • Perform other routine maintenance;
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure that it is functioning properly and that repairs meet the manufacturer’s requirements;
  • Perform the inspection and repair of machinery or stationary rolling equipment that will be inspected;
  • Perform any other duty assigned by his immediate supervisor;
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

Requested skills

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in mechanics, in plumbing and heating, or in any related fields;
  • Knowledge of diesel mechanics and piping;
  • Ome (1) to two (2) years of experience in mechanics of any kind;
  • Experience in vessel mechanics (asset);
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • Good manual skills;
  • Versatility;
  • Team work;
  • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces;
  • Available for travel outside the city and sometimes outside the province of Quebec.
