Description

This person will report to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the production schedule of the extrusion department, preventive maintenance management and records as well as the smooth operations of personnel and quality activities. This includes analyzing current production/capacity needs and creating the most efficient production schedules for the extrusion department. This position requires a minimum of three to five years as a Production Planning Manager /Scheduler for a manufacturing plant.

 

This Extrusion Production and Planning Manager role, with general autonomy, is accountable for the overall implementation and execution of the production planning and optimization process for extrusion, generation of daily production schedule and analysis, alignment of commercial, supply chain and operational assets, and managing and updating production planning and optimization tools.

The Extrusion Production and Planning Manager role also provides business/supply chain analysis to assess business opportunities. These assessments include items such as optimizing inventories, assessing cost improvement and constraint removal projects and supporting growth initiatives.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

Accountable for the overall implementation and execution of the production planning process, generation of daily production schedule and analysis, alignment of commercial, supply chain and operational assets, and managing and updating production planning tools for a product family.
Leads and manages all aspects of the production planning and detailed outage planning processes to align commercial, operational, and supply chain interests into executable operating plan for a product family.
Drives optimization of supply, production and logistics, including inventory, yield loss and energy efficiencies, that maximizes the Company profitability for extrusion.
Monitors, tracks, and reports critical inventories. Maintain and improve planning and scheduling tools for increased accuracy, improved business performance, and processes.
Coordinate and balance needs of manufacturing, commercial, and supply chain.
Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
Develops strategic planning/supply chain business analysis related to support and assessment of business needs, optimizing inventories, assessing cost improvement and constraint removal projects and supporting growth initiatives.
Work daily with Sales & Operations Department to develop, publish and communicate production schedule to lead hands in order to meet customer delivery dates. Development and maintenance of an accurate and effective Work Measurement System; Ensures effective productivity measurements are established for identified functions in plant to fulfill orders from manufacture to shipment to customer.
Evaluation, analysis, recommendation and implementation of enhancements to existing work methods flows and processes to increase throughput. Responsible for accurate inventory management and records.
Has primary responsibility for preparation of month end production, inventory, and reconciliation reports and adjustments.
Coordinate design artwork flow, plant print preparation, die inventory, and release scheduling. Material management, railcar management, production scheduling, shipping/receiving, and logistics at all points of the Value Stream Provides data for the Plant Manager and Corporate for preparation of Sales Budget, Quarterly Reviews and Long-Range Forecast information.
Supports Plant Manager and Financial Analyst in preparation of annual budget
Safety and Environmental Ensure any Plant Specific Training is performed and appropriate records are maintained
Coordinate Close Call, First Aid Maintain an OSHA compliant facility Safety Committee Chairman
Compose and or Complete any Safety Reporting Requirements.

Industrial Engineering degree
3 to 7 years of diversified work experience to include at least two of the following areas: Plant Operations, Product Management, Inventory Management, Planning and Analysis, Supply Chain Operations Practical knowledge of plant operations and logistics networks Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong collaboration and influencing skills. Desire for self-development and learning. Strong initiative and results orientation.
