Position Summary
If you are a Speech-Language Pathologist with strong clinical best practices and enjoy teaching to others we would love to hear from you for a Casual opening.

Casual employment means work requirements will vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. As a Casual employee you will receive 12.6% of straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. We are seeking a candidate with Monday to Friday availability.

What Will You Work On?
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will work in a medical team based environment where service will focus primarily on adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders.

• Outpatients - Communication, Modified Barium Swallow Assessments, Swallowing Assessments. Outpatient Services provide care to adults only.
• Acute Care - Swallowing Assessment, Modified Barium Swallow assessments. Our services in Acute care are all ages and diagnoses.

A vital part of the team, you will have a huge impact on the quality of life and the safety of our patients with dysphagia, communication issues and related swallow deficits. You are the key link in providing advanced care for our patients by improving our wait times for our service and supporting our existing SLP team with their workload. Saving the day as a Casual is a very real thing!

How Will We Help You Grow?
We will support new grads and those who have not worked in Acute Care before by providing direct training and mentorship for dysphagia assessment and intervention, as well as MBS Advanced competency. You will gain experience in all areas of Acute Care and Outpatient SLP services with full mentorship. We will support your learning related to many other advanced competencies.

Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for staff who are willing to be flexible and accountable member of our department that covers the large geographic area of the North Okanagan. You will be available at minimum 3 days per week. Even though this is a Casual position there is plenty of work to keep you busy. Training and mentorship is provided so past experience is less important than having a great attitude and being a team player.

• Registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.
• One year’s clinical experience with adults in a hospital setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience with Dysphagia Management and communication disorders would be an asset.
• Valid BC Driver’s license where required.
