Position Summary
Interior Health’s Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) invites applications from Occupational Therapists for Casual employment. Accepting a Casual position leads to regular employment and owned positions through the collective agreement Internal Recruitment job postings.

KGH is a tertiary hospital and is the region’s main referral centre offering a full range of healthcare services and consisting of 400+ beds and over 84,000 Emergency Department visits yearly. As a member of the KGH multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist works independently and collaboratively providing inpatient occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of clients and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence. KGH and the Central Okanagan offers many diverse areas of practice: acute medical care, acute surgical care, large outpatients programs, large inpatient rehab programs, long-term rehab care, community care rehab, and urgent primary care centres.

Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts when offered on short notice or pre-planned will be 08:00 to 16:00 hours and could be within a 7 day work week. Flexibility and availability to accept shifts is a requirement of the position; ability to work weekends. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

Education, Training and Experience:
• Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.
• Valid BC Driver’s license.
