Position Summary
Do you have strong critical thinking and Emergency nursing skills? Are you looking to be part of a strong team in a fast-paced rural setting? If you answered yes, then we have an opportunity for you at the South Okanagan General Hospital (SOGH) in the friendly town of Oliver!

This position qualifies for a $10,000 rural recruitment bonus.

SOGH is an active, rural hospital serving the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos, and surrounding areas that sees an average of 16,000 emergency visits per year. There are 7 Emergency beds and 18 acute care beds which regularly operate at 100% capacity.

Ten years ago this site was selected to be a pilot site for the implementation of the electronic Meditech Charting System, Advanced Clinicals. Since then we have been a paperless ward, and one of the few who have been able to achieve it in Canada and North America. Nursing and multidisciplinary notes, medication administration, and physicians’ orders are done electronically. Today, we are seen as a leader in this technology. We have begun to move to a paperless system in our Emergency Department as well, we recently added the Electronic Triage system.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Advanced preparation in an ED clinical specialty or Rural Nursing Certificate/ED training or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years.
