Job Description

The Specialist, Payments is responsible for supporting Indigo’s transition from cheque to electronic payments (EFT, ACH, wire) to external vendors.  This role will be responsible for identifying, proposing and executing a phased implementation plan to ensure successful vendor onboarding and appropriate controls to safeguard the Company’s assets.    


  • In collaboration with Director, Finance & Accounting, identify groups of vendors to be transitioned to electronic payment; develop a corresponding implementation plan and timeline 
  • Communicate vendor onboarding plan across accounting and relevant cross-functional teams; lead initiation of contact with vendors and collect necessary banking information  
  • Review and verify accuracy of vendor authorization forms in preparation for electronic payments onboarding; challenge inconsistent information, escalating any unusual characteristics to senior leaders 
  • Execute validation checks on each vendor authorization form, ensuring banking information is valid and accurate  
  • Document all validations and verifications to ensure a proper control environment 
  • Communicate all challenges and escalate any opportunities to increase process efficiencies, if identified 
  • Track progress of implementation plan against original timeline and report on progress on a weekly basis 
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes 
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs 
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, preferably Accounting 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, or treasury 
  • Experience with banking information required for EFT, ACH, and wire payments 
  • Experience in vendor payments and/or banking  
  • Knowledge of, and experience working within control environments and importance of safeguarding assets  
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines  
  • Strong attention to detail ability to identify risky information 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
