Junior Systems Engineer

Join a team that designs, develops and integrates highly complex systems for space within Honeywell Aerospace. As a Systems Engineer you will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.  Apply engineering knowledge, tools, and principals to develop systems for current space optical instrumentation hardware developments and on preparatory studies for new space optical and science instrumentation. You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will be involved in every aspect of the systems life cycle; from the front end of business development through product end of life.


  • Analysis and modeling of system performance
  • System requirements analysis, functional/capability analysis, synthesis, and test definition
  • Systems engineering documentation preparation and maintenance
  • Working with multi-disciplinary project teams in all aspects of design, assembly, and test activities
  • Technical interactions with customers and subcontractors

The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP clearance.

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science
  • Must graduate on or after December 2023
  • Must continue enrollment in degree program upon completion of the internship


  • Advanced degree in engineering or applied science
  • Experience in optical instrument design activities, including optical, mechanical, and electrical engineering aspects
  • A good grasp of optical, mechanical, electrical, and software elements and their interactions within complex systems
  • The demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with engineers, scientists, and technicians from multiple disciplines
  • Numerical simulation skills and fluency with mathematical or system modeling tools (e.g. MATLAB, Python)
  • Knowledge of systems development lifecycle
  • Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, and who consistently take the initiative to get things done
  • The ability to adapt as dictated by project changes
  • The ability to simultaneously manage a variety of complicated tasks
  • A results-oriented and structured problem-solving approach
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information across different levels of the organization and externally
