Description

6 South is a fast paced 35 bed unit. There is a 6 bed step down with cardiac monitors. All registered nurses are required to practice in the step down unit setting. The units care for a variety of patient populations including: orthopedic, digestive diseases (surgical and medical), trauma, ENT, and urology patients. Patient acuity is high with a quick patient turn over.


The Registered Nurse provides nursing care according to the job description and standards of practice and criteria for Registered Nurses on 6th South.


1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Step down course, ECG monitoring education and experience required.
3. Recent (within the last three years) acute surgical nursing experience
4. Demonstrated knowledge of the Nursing Care Planning process
5. Demonstrated ability to utilize problem solving and critical thinking techniques effectively in a general surgery/orthopedic/trauma setting
