Position: Medical Laboratory Technologist 

Department:  Laboratory - Surgical Pathology

Status: Temporary Full-time for approx. 6 months

Hours: Monday to Friday - Various rotating 8 hour shifts (between 6:00am and 10:00am start times). (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs) 

Site: Oakville (coverage at Milton and Georgetown as required)

This is what you'll be doing:

Responsible for all duties related to the processing of surgical pathology specimens.

This is what you’ll need to do it:

  • Current general registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario required
  • Recent clinical experience of 3-5 years in Histology (hospital-based preferred)
  • Experience in routine Histology procedures and equipment
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in  immunohistochemistry preferred
  • Experience in specimen grossing an asset
  • Working knowledge of all Pathology quality assurance and quality controls required
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of a team
  • A positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Good employment and attendance record required

The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.
