About the Role

The Manager, Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data Warehousing is a technical expert with excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills.  You will be responsible for the day to day management of (3) BI software developers and (3) Business Analytics / Customer Insights professionals as well as the leadership, coordination, and management of Business Intelligence (BI), Reporting and Data Warehouse (DW) projects and the smooth daily operations of our BI/DW/ETL platforms.

In this role, you will be tasked with developing our BI people, processes, and technology to enable G&T to make more effective use of data and to identify insights that enable revenue and growth opportunities.

What will I do?

People Manager for BI Technical Team and Analytics/Insights Team (35%)

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, daily management, and direction to a 3-person team of intermediate and junior level BI developers
  • Mentor a newly formed, 3-person Analytics team (non-developers), into an Analysis team able to execute on best practices and extract data driven business knowledge

 

BI/DW Platform Design and Management (35%)

  • Provide Technical Leadership and expertise for the design and implementation a self-service BI eco-system, ensuring accurate, and complete information delivery to business users
  • Establish close partnerships with internal business stakeholders and other IT teams to provide data architecture expertise ensuring overall data reliability and platform stability
  • Accountable for smooth daily operations of the BI/DW platform to within SLAs

 

Develop of BI Product Roadmap, Standards and Governance framework (15%)

  • Part of a leadership team that will define a pathway for how G&T can advance through the BI maturity lifecycle
  • Develop and enforce appropriate data security, data integrity and other standards and best practices

 

Management and Delivery of BI projects (15%)

  • Responsible for the Framework and project best practices that informs prioritization and delivery of BI/DW projects to align with G&T business priorities
  • Accountable for successful delivery of BI/DW projects from inception to deployment.

 

What qualifications to I need?

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or similar
  • 5 years BI developer / analyst experience combined
  • 3+ years: Exceptional BI/DW team leadership and stakeholder management
  • 2+ years of experience building business driven BI solutions
  • Technical and people management of BI/DW resources and BI/DW technology platforms is required
  • Additional education/certifications in BI, Agile/Scrum and/or Azure is an asset
  • Adept verbal and written communicator
  • DataOps for on-premise and cloud based BI platforms
  • Experience with Microsoft On-Prem SQL Server Stack including SSRS, SSIS and SQL Server
  • Experience expanding a Power BI environment, including Gateway management, DataFlows, DataSets, Reports and Power BI Apps
  • Experience with Azure Data Platform solutions and cost-effective transitioning from on-Prem to Cloud
  • Prior experience in Data Science and AI/ML an asset
