Summary

The laboratory technician will oversee the team of sample technicians and ensure that tasks regarding sample analysis are carried out.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the assigned tasks are carried out in a timely manner, according to the technical requirements agreed upon with the laboratory director;
  • Supervise the preparation process with regard to the samples; crushing, grinding and splitting samples;
  • Finalize the preparation process and conduct the analysis cycle (XRF and AA);
  • Calibrate lab equipment;
  • Track down and communicate any anomalies in the lab and the analytical process;
  • Identify any corrective actions needed for analysis equipment and contact the suppliers if necessary;
  • Conduct chemical analysis in accordance with formally approved methods;
  • Participate in managing consumables inventories.

Work environment

Requested skills

  • Collegial diploma in analytical chemistry, in laboratory technology or any other training related to laboratory tasks in a scientific field;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ work experience, 5 of them in a laboratory;
  • Ability to manage a lab and transfer knowledge;
  • Well organized and able to plan work tasks;
  • Class 5 driver’s licence;
  • Ability to work on 12-hour shifts of type 14/14 FIFO, day shifts;
  • Good written and verbal skill in French and English;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment, an asset.
