Education and Experience


  • Must not have a criminal record (acceptable criminal check and child abuse registry check)
  • Provincial certification as a Continuing Care Assistant (and maintained)


  • Must not have a criminal record (acceptable criminal check and child abuse registry check)
  • Provincial certification as a Home Support Worker (and maintained)

Nursing Students (Casual positions)

  • Must not have a criminal record (acceptable criminal check and child abuse registry check)
  • Currently enrolled in a Baccalaureate Nursing Program or Practical Nursing Program
  • Successfully completed courses covering Body Mechanics: Positioning/Transfers and Personal Care & Special Treatments.
  • A clinical supervisor recommendation for employment is required
  • First Aid Certification and CPR Certification training will be provided if not in place

CCA in training

  • Must not have a criminal record (acceptable criminal check and child abuse registry check)
  • Successfully completed CCA program modules: Introduction to the Continuing Care Assistant Program, Introduction to the Continuing Care Sector, Body Mechanics: Positioning/Transfers, Personal Care & Special Treatments
  • Must complete certification as a Continuing Care Assistant with the next two years (financial assistance provided if you qualify)
  • First Aid Certification and CPR Certification training will be provided if not in place


Excellent verbal and written English language skills.

Other langugage skills are considered an asset.

General Aptitude

Microsoft Office with basic computer skills an asset.

Primary Function:

Working as an integral member of CTG, the Continuing Care Assistant holds the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to focus on a family centered model to provide services to clients in a community setting. Position Responsibilities:

Performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with the operational policies of the Closing the Gap Participates in all aspects of personal client care to ensure the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of each client and family member are met under the direction of the direct Supervisor Utilizes therapeutic communication by establishing a collaborative working relationship with the client and families for the purpose of meeting the client needs; ensuring respect, dignity, and confidentiality of each client Reporting unusual events promptly and directly to the Direct Supervisor and applying direction given Delivers effective and efficient care under the direction of the Direct Supervisor that falls within the plan of care and acknowledges the client strengths, limitations as well as their need for safety and the safety of others Participates in multidisciplinary team work as required: Staff Meetings Educational events, and Case conferences as required

Ability to prioritize work and meet deaulines

Respond to both day to day issues as well as complex non-routine issues

Other duties as assigned, required by the Direct Supervisor or Care Plan
