Job Description

  • Repair and maintain all aspects of site equipment that are electrical and mechanically related
  • Use detection instrumentation (voltage, ohm meters ) and schematic diagrams to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and check for system compatibility in equipment and building . This includes looking for short circuits, blown breakers, failed contactors, resetting PLC faults etc.
  • Perform routine testing on equipment to ensure normal functioning and preventive maintenance on motors, electrical cabinets, circuitry and distribution
  • Replace motor brushes, bearings, brushes and commutators. Installation of new or rebuilt motors including impellers, belts, sheaves and pulleys.
  • Plan layout and install electrical wiring based on prevailing ESA and Building Codes.
  • Replace, lubricate and align defective parts of equipment
  • Read technical diagrams and blueprints
  • Assemble equipment through machine shop methods that include welding, fastening, riveting etc.
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
  • Operate all machine shop equipment for general modification and equipment fabrication/building
  • Promptly attend to injured colleagues and duly report any H & S issues. Assist in near miss or accident investigations
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ensure transfer of knowledge
  • Can do manual work, lift and move up to 50 lb. weights according to frequency of set-ups and dismounts

Job Responsibilities

  • Comfortable performing preventative maintenance and be both electrically and mechanically inclined
  • At least 3+ years experience prferred
  • 309A, dual ticket (442A Electrician) license is a huge asset
  • Experience in extruders, flexographic printing presses, lamination machines and bag making machinery an asset or other high speed automated packaging machinery
  • Organized and detailed oriented; continuous improvement champion, must spend 80%+ of time on the floor
  • Ability to build/contribute a quality and efficiency culture on the floor, team player and upholds respect in dealings with all associates

Qualifications

  • Comfortable performing preventative maintenance and be both electrically and mechanically inclined
  • At least 3+ years experience prferred
  • 309a or 433A Industrial Millwright license preferred, dual ticket (442A Electrician) license is a huge asset
  • Experience in extruders, flexographic printing presses, lamination machines and bag making machinery an asset or other high speed automated packaging machinery
  • Must be licensed to use a scissor lift and a forklift
  • Organized and detailed oriented; continuous improvement champion, must spend 80%+ of time on the floor
  • Ability to build/contribute a quality and efficiency culture on the floor, team player and upholds respect in dealings with all associates
