JOB DESCRIPTION:

*** Please note that the trade of Power Plant Operator corresponds to the trade of Electrical Generating Systems Technician in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Electrical generating systems technicians provide electric power generation services to operational units. Their duties consist of installing, operating, maintaining and repairing mobile generator units and associated control devices. This trade is also available in the Reserve Force (part time).

TASKS:

  • Install, operate, maintain and repair mobile electrical generators and associated control equipment
  • Install, operate, maintain and repair power plant electrical generators and associated control equipment
  • Install, operate and maintain engine prime movers associated with equipment driven by Construction Engineers
  • Install, operate, maintain and repair Static Uninterruptable Power Systems and Rotary Uninterruptable Power Systems
  • Overhaul electrical generation systems and equipment
  • Produce designs and specifications
  • Produce mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Perform brazing/welding and machining work

CONDITIONS:

WORK SCHEDULE

  • In the Regular Force, members work on bases and stations across Canada and on operational deployments around the world.
  • In the Reserve Force, members adapt their schedule to suit their needs. They can choose to work full time or part time on a voluntary basis.


SALARY

  • For the REGULAR FORCE, the salary varies between $38016,00 and $116040,00/year depending on experience.
  • For the Reserve Force, the salary varies between $101.96 and $295.04 per day.
