JOB DESCRIPTION:

To control aircrafts easily, communications and information equipment is essential. Aerospace telecommunications and information systems technicians perform, supervise and direct the repair and maintenance of all types of Air Force telecommunications and information systems. They also manage and maintain mobile and fixed satellite communication systems, microwave systems, switchboards, cable plants, and all forms of computer systems and networks. This trade is also available in the Reserve Force (part time).

TASKS:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all types of radios, radar and data processing, cryptographic, terminal, audio and video equipment
  • Perform inspections, performance tests and adjustments on strategic and tactical fixed and mobile telecommunications equipment
  • Perform repairs, overhaul and support maintenance on telecommunications equipment
  • Perform installations and acceptance tests
  • Liaise with all levels of command and functional groups, including base level personnel
  • Maintain and/or advise other occupations on the maintenance of the electromechanical and refrigeration requirements of telecommunications equipment
  • Deploy as part of the Air Force Support Capability as part of 8 Air Communications and Control Squadron, as part of a Tactical Control Radar Squadron, or as part of the Canadian Forces Joint Signals Regiment
  • Manage the life-cycle of material related to various telecommunications and information systems


CONDITIONS:

In the Regular Force, your work location is not garanteed since you may be asked to work anywhere in Canada. However, if you only want to work in your area, the Reserve Force may be an alternative. Military personnel can be asked to work on atypical schedules. Salary increases according to the rank and experience of the member according to the rates of pay applicable on April 1, 2017. REQUIREMENTS:

  • To be aged between 16 and 53 years old
  • To be a Canadian citizen
  •  To have completed at least Math 426 (TS4 or SN4).
  •  To have completed at least 24 secondary school units (Secondary 4 and / or 5); OR Have obtained a Professional Diploma; OR Have obtained a certificate of equivalence at the secondary level (AENS-TENS); OR Have acquired General Educational Development (GED). A DEP or Collegial Diploma in Telecommunications is an asset
