Job Description

We are presently hiring an Associate with Supervisory experience, within our Corporate Accounting & Procurement team reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting & Procurement. The Associate will oversee the global invoice payment function for investment expenses as well as the accounting for the Central Vendor Company, the centralized procurement arm of CPP Investments. You will manage the day-to-day functional supervision of a team to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of expense processing within a robust control environment. In addition, the Associate will focus on enhancing various systems and processes supporting expense management, including performing data analytics and presenting key performance metrics to Senior Management.

This role will work closely with other members of the Corporate Accounting & Procurement team and collaborate with internal departments within CPP Investments.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the centralized global vendor payments for investment-related expenses for the CPP Investments in accordance to policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functional supervision of a team of 3, including the review and approval of payments to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of invoice processing.
  • Provide leadership, regular feedback and mentoring to the team to support a positive and highly effective team culture.
  • Provide consistent and timely coaching, including effective behavioral-based feedback, to direct reports to accomplish defined business objectives.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to stakeholders on invoice-related matters; respond to queries and address stakeholder concerns on a timely basis.
  • Build and enhance existing reports within various systems to identify and investigate discrepancies/errors in data flow and take actions on a timely manner.
  • Assist and support project and initiatives relating to expense processing, as required.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for streamlining and enhancing the controls within the expense processing and accounting processes and recommend solutions.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of new procedures and controls to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Review and manage the update of the key control process documentation for the team to ensure controls are operating as intended.
  • Promote team effectiveness, including training team members in technical skills, and sharing specialized expertise.


  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent, with a professional accounting designation.
  • 5-7 years of corporate accounting and operations, experience in a supervisory role, with a focus on leading practices in expense processing and controls.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement; specifically, ability to identify existing processes and gaps across the current processes and systems and how these can be standardized and scaled.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, ability to foster effective working relationships internally across the organization and externally.
  • Experience with SimCorp, Ticketing, Investran and Oracle would be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional time management and project prioritization skills, an ability to work under time sensitive deadlines and adjust to urgent situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and an aptitude and interest in learning new software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a high performing culture, open to and comfortable with evolving changes and new challenges.
