BDO Canada requires a Lead, Cloud Accounting for our cloud-based accounting group who will be responsible for providing internal and external technical and accounting support for staff and clients in Atlantic Canada. The incumbent must be able to work within a confidential environment, be flexible and adaptable to multiple requirements of the role and be able to work both independently and within a team environment. - Provide technical support for both internal bookkeepers and external client users. Applying a strong base of accounting knowledge, the individual will strive to understand user needs, suggest improvements, and highlight best practices; - Coordinate with outsourcing bookkeeping to ensure that support and input provided is in line with BDO Cloud Accounting Services policies and expectations; - Scope and price out new client opportunities as they arise and assist with client onboarding; - Act as a liaison between internal end-users and the technology group’s development staff in order to articulate and improve end-user requests; - Execute testing on new software deployments, including updates and new features; - Be creative in developing innovative strategies; - Participate in the design of financial reports in a variety of platforms (Accounting Software, Excel, Power Bi); - Effective communication with clients, partners and staff; - Assist in the development and delivery of practical business advice for clients; - Work with local partners to identify target clients/client industries; - Collaborate with industry leads nationally to deepen specialty, develop knowledge base, write/support thought leadership, identify opportunities and develop additional resources; - Oversee and monitor staff training and certification processes; - Provide financial technical expertise, recommend, and implement best practices; - Monitor engagement profitability and operational KPIs as defined, address areas of concern; - Participate in various ad hoc projects. Your experience and education - Post-secondary degree/diploma in Accounting, Business or Computer Science - Advanced proficiency with MS Office (including Word and Excel) - A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting (audit or bookkeeping) with emphasis on reporting - Previous experience with accounting software programs such as the, Xero, QuickBooks and/or Sage - Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment - Ability to work with minimal supervision - Willingness to take initiative to learn new programs and/or skills as needed Why BDO?
