Under the direct supervision of the Unit Manager, or designate, and according to regional and unit specific policies and directives; the Registered Nurse, as a health professional, bears the primary responsibility and accountability to assess patient needs, plan for, implement and evaluate nursing care needs for patients on the Family Medicine Units at the Leduc Community Hospital, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. The incumbent will possess good decision-making skills, exercise sound judgment and be able to work effectively in stressful/emergency situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Possess strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Demonstrates an awareness of accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices and procedures and is responsible for maintaining self-wellness. The incumbent must be able to work in a physically challenging environment; constant walking, lifting, bending and heavy pushing/pulling necessary. IV therapy certification required. 1-2 years acute care experience required with charge nurse experience. Basic keyboarding/computer skills required.

Certification in care of PICC lines and/or blood draws from a PICC line an asset. Experience in care of medical patients is of benefit. Connect Care and CoACT experience preferred. Current ACLS certification preferred.
