Description
Reporting to the Manager of East Edmonton Urgent Care Clinic, this position functions as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Urgent Care Clinic at the East Edmonton Health Centre. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide care to individuals across the life span. Actively participates in program and development and evaluation, and clinical teaching activities. The LPN performs restricted activities and works to their fullest scope of practice within their team assignment in the Urgent Care Clinic. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of 2 years working as an LPN in Urgent Care or Emergency. Strong understanding of health promotion, population health, and the determinants of health theory and practice. Expert in nursing practice, patient education, counseling and planning/coordinating care, patient health promotion and wellness. Demonstrates proficiency in assessment, treatment and intervention of patients requiring urgent and/or active care. Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as the ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, cross cultural sensitivity, strong organizational skills.
Ability to manage time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities. Possess a sound understanding of the community and the determinants of health and have working knowledge of Connect Care.
