Aecon is well positioned in the market and are seeking Scheduler/Planners for current and upcoming projects. Generally, under the supervision of the Lead Planner, the Scheduler/Planner will be responsible for schedule development and maintenance of comprehensive project schedules for projects based in the Ontario region. Throughout the project life cycles, the Planner/Scheduler will gather and interpret data from a variety of sources to conduct schedule analysis and provide essential reporting to support the project team to ensure successful completion of assigned projects. Flexibility is required as the encumbant may be required to relocate to project anywhere in Ontario.
⦁ Read and review project drawings, project scope and estimates
⦁ Communicate with Lead Planner, project manager and Bid/project team to generate an outline of the project execution plan, schedule WBS, schedule level of detail.
⦁ Develop integrated schedules using Primavera for various projects & their different stages as appropriate (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning).
⦁ Generate comprehensive schedules in a variety of formats and details to satisfy different user requirements.
⦁ Identify the critical path & near critical path within the schedules.
⦁ Interface the schedule with the project budget and resource load it with labour, material and cost resources based on the project approved budget hours and quantity.
⦁ Ensure Aecon as well as Client Standards for Scheduling are aligned.
⦁ Develop various project controls reports as required (Bar Charts, S-curves, Productivity, Manpower histogram, Commodity curves, etc.).
⦁ Review and analyze the schedules submitted by other parties contributing to the project.
⦁ Update project schedule, monitor actual progress and compare the updates with the baseline and report progress against schedule in the required format.
⦁ Analyze project schedule issues and propose corrective actions for timely completion of the project.
⦁ Performs productivity analysis of construction operations and verifies. Establishes productivity basis to be utilized in estimates, as developed in concurrence with Construction. Reviews labor estimates for reasonableness.
⦁ Work with the Bid team to produce proposal schedules aligned with the Bid Documents
⦁ Able to work with Estimators in developing job estimates in Hard Dollar estimating software to create Primavera P6 resource and cost loaded schedules which will also tie into Aecon’s ERP system as required
⦁ Perform technical quality analysis on schedule
⦁ Reviews and evaluates schedule durations for all disciplines’ activities relative to the support of project milestones. Supervises/directs the calculation of durations and other considerations affecting activity durations.
⦁ Implements Sub-trades schedules into master schedule and monitor ongoing progress.
⦁ Report progress of schedules at project meetings, monthly forecasts and status report updates.
⦁ Provide ‘look-ahead’ schedules for Sub-trade and Construction site meetings.
⦁ Prepare and update project cash flow forecasts.
⦁ Support project team with necessary training when needed.
Required Knowledge and Experience
⦁ Minimum 8+ years of planning / scheduling experience on multi-year projects.
⦁ A degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
⦁ Excellent knowledge of Primavera P6.
⦁ Excellent knowledge of Earned Value principles.
⦁ Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
⦁ Experience in a heavy infrastructure environment is desirable but not necessary; Subways, Bridges, Tunnels and LRT Projects experience is a bonus.
⦁ High level proficiency with Primavera (P6), required. Knowledge of MS Project and TILOS, an asset.
⦁ Excellent written and oral communication skills
⦁ Strong organizational skills in order to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work Bid and Site environment.
⦁ Excellent interpersonal and team player
⦁ Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
⦁ Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
⦁ Detail oriented and customer focused.
⦁ Effective analytical and problem-solving skill.
⦁ Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines
⦁ Work will be at head office or project site, as required!
⦁ Willingness to travel- Project related travel anticipated- Estimate of travel required: up to 30%
