Job Description:

Location: Hybrid

Reporting to the Director of Learning & Development (L&D), the Learning Consultant (LC) is a key member of the L&D team, who works with various partners across the Retail Advice and Solutions business in the design and development of courses, programs and professional development experiences for advisors and their leaders. Together with instructional designers, and administrative colleagues and under the guidance of the Management Team in L&D, the SLC leads the course design and/or training asset development process. The SLC collaborates with stakeholders, subject matter experts, training delivery experts, learning management system experts, and support teams to determine the learning strategy, and design approach appropriate to the context of each project. Successful integration of analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation activities using project management and effective communication skills contribute to sustaining and enhancing the quality of Learning and Development experiences.

What will you do:

  • Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs), to manage the development of advisor and manager training programs, including materials such as online courses, software simulations, job aids, facilitator or learner guides, audio scripts, audio, video, interactive PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, and more.

  • Establish business objectives and key results for each program/module to assess impact and track program success and trends

  • Provide program management support to the development and implementation of the training programs

  • Create and leverage high-level outlines and designs including performance objectives, and learning objectives to guide the instructional designer/developer in the development of the learning experience

  • Apply your knowledge of adult learning principles and modern learning tools and techniques to lead the design and development of clear, concise, engaging, effective and interactive learning experiences for advisors and leaders.

  • Ensure that all components of design align and support the program’s learning objectives.

  • Develop and track knowledge metrics using platforms such as quizzes, test your knowledge questions, assignments, learning activities, decision-based scenarios, and case studies.

  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves and support broader team as required

  • Effectively manage timelines for assigned projects.

  • Write various communications, emails, invitations, etc.

  • Oversee the process for obtaining approvals of training materials, communications, emails, continuing education credits etc. (for example PRP, legal and compliance reviews).

  • Assist with training, support and guidance to instructional designers and support teams as required.

  • Communication skills - professional, confident, transparent, and concise communicator (verbal and written)

  • Prior understanding of the retail advice industry in Canada, and familiarity with Sun Life’s distribution channels

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
