Senior Unix Systems Administrator to provide administration and production support within a Solaris 11.4 environment for a crown corporation client

Our valued crown corporation client is seeking a Senior Unix Systems Administrator to provide administration and production support within a Solaris 11.4 environment!

Initial 1-year contract with strong possibility of extension to a total term of 3 years. 100% remote. The selected candidate must work in EST hours, with some days starting as early as 7am EST. The successful candidate will also be part of an on-call rotation requiring work during non-standard business hours once every 7 weeks.

As the successful candidate you will provide administration and production support within a Solaris 11 environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with operational support for the Solaris 11.4 environment
• Work closely with a team of developers to help configure, tune and maintain the current environment
• Contribute to Solaris OS patching, remediation practices and cycles
• Assist with planning and execution Solaris patch management using best practices
• Assist with execution and planning of installation, configuration and tuning of Solaris servers using OVM
• Provide input to and/or developing necessary documentation (build books, operation guides)

Must-have Skills:

• 8+ years’ experience as a Systems Administrator supporting a supporting a Solaris 11 to 11.4 environment
• Demonstrated experience with Oracle/Sun Solaris Clustering
• Demonstrated experience working with OVM (Oracle VM VirtualBox) and OpsCenter
• Experience with hardware support and build automation (Scripting, Packaging, Ansible, etc.)

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Valid Government of Canada Secret Clearance
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Redhat OpenSCAP
• Demonstrated experience supporting a RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7/8/9 environment using Red Hat Satellite
• Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, OpenShift, etc.)
