As a Health & Safety Business Partner, reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will work with operational leaders and their teams, directly to define and implement health and safety initiatives that are aligned with business objectives, KPI, and H&S objectives. This role focuses on building sustainable safety cultures, increase the safety awareness of front-line technicians, the JHSC, and regulatory compliance. Institutionalizing a Health & Safety culture at Reliance is of great importance, with heightened accountability for ensuring Health & Safety is top of mind across all functions, all markets and all Team Members. This role promotes a resilient Health & Safety culture, by providing support at the business level for multiple branches across Canada. What will you do? Closely partner with regional business leaders to focus on building culture to drive improvement in Health & Safety understanding and compliance. Accountable for identifying proactive trends and opportunities and implementing programs to improve Health & Safety. Provide input and identify innovative ways to enhance Reliance's culture through the development and implementation of Health & Safety policies, programs, training, etc. all aimed at reducing the risk associated with operational activities. Conduct regular job site visits and H&S inspections to advocate safety with frontline leaders and Team Members, develop appropriate actions plans as needed for gaps identified. Keep updated on relevant Provincial legislations and ensure compliance. Lead team meetings and support Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings by providing leadership and guidance. Actively participate in proactive workplace wellness initiatives. Work closely with management to ensure incident investigations are thoroughly conducted to identify accurate root cause and appropriate corrective actions are initiated. Liaise with government agencies as needed including Health & Safety Inspectors and act as point of contact for branch activity. What do we offer? Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety related field and equivalent work experience. Minimum 5 yrs. experience in Health & Safety with demonstrated results. Working knowledge of MSD prevention guidelines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation and training skills to all levels. Relationship building; strong ability to develop new and effective relationships with internal and external contacts. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills including ability to influence and negotiate to desired outcomes. Flexibility and adaptability; high capacity to effectively prioritize and manage multiple conflicting priorities and to work under pressure in a high-paced, results-focused evolving organization. Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task. Must have access to reliable transportation. Must maintain a valid driver's license and clear driver abstract. Position requires travel within Province and across Canada on occasion. Nice to Have(s) Obtained or working towards CRSP. Experience in policy/procedure/business process development and quality improvement would be ideal. Knowledge and/or experience in Environmental Management and/or Industrial Hygiene is an asset. Experience in construction and/or industrial sector an asset.
