Your Opportunity

BDO Canada LLP is looking for a Consultant to expand its Construction Advisory & Dispute Services practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven junior professional to collaborate closely with seasoned experts in the field and become an integral part of our rapidly growing team. The Consultant will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting in carrying out forensic delay & quantum analysis for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects subject to complex disputes
  • Performing planning & project controls including progress, cost & loan monitoring
  • Reviewing project-associated costs, including labour, material, and equipment
  • Undertaking design document reviews and estimating material quantities
  • Working closely with Senior Analysts and Experts to prepare or respond to delay & cost claims/expert reports
  • Providing thorough and accurate data extraction using planning software, such as Primavera and Microsoft Project
  • Researching and understanding of document control and information sources on the projects
  • Assist with engagement proposals and pursuing business development opportunities
  • Developing knowledge in the field by attending relevant industry events and conferences

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • You hold a degree in a construction-related field (Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Planning)
  • A post-graduate degree in construction management would be an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a similar role and/or the construction industry in planning, project control, or related professional construction job role
  • Working knowledge of Primavera / MS Project would be an asset
  • You have a good understanding of soft and hard costs associated with project
  • You have good financial and numeracy management skills to understand project budgets and progress reports
  • You display strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • You display a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • The ability and willingness to travel within Canada and internationally if the need arises
